A glossary of the health checks and tests included in our Executive Health Screening packages.
A detailed evaluation including a thorough physical inspection and various biophysical tests including height, weight, BMI.
A comprehensive analysis involving measurements like blood pressure, pulse rate, visual acuity, and blood tests for cholesterol and blood sugar. These assessments offer an in-depth understanding of an individual’s health condition.
Consists of blood and urine tests to assess kidney health. These tests help diagnose conditions such as kidney disease, electrolyte imbalances, and urinary tract issues, guiding treatment and monitoring kidney function over time.
The liver function tests assess liver enzymes and blood clotting function to diagnose and monitor liver diseases like hepatitis and cirrhosis.
Screens for hidden blood in stool, aiding in the detection of gastrointestinal bleeding. To maintain accuracy, individuals should refrain from consuming specific foods like red meat, cauliflower, and broccoli three days prior to the test to avoid false positives. The presence of hemorrhoids or piles can also lead to misleading results. May be ordered when investigating unexplained anemia that may be caused by gastrointestinal bleeding.
Full and Microscopic Examination of a urine sample, which provides a breakdown of the contents of your urine, and determines if there is too much protein, cells, sugar, or salts within the sample. Can help indicate presence of metabolic diseases such as liver disease and diabetes.
Checks for small amounts of protein called albumin and compares the level of albumin to creatinine in a sample of urine. May be ordered to look for signs of kidney disease.
Assesses your ability to see clearly, typically by identifying letters or numbers on a wall chart, revealing conditions like myopia, hyperopia, or astigmatism.
A test which requires you to identify numbers and shapes within multi-colored dot patterns, aiding in the detection of color deficiencies.
Tonometry, measures eye pressure by administering numbing eye drops followed by touching the cornea with a tonometer or by using a tonometer to estimate eye pressure with a puff of air, with both methods being painless. Screens for glaucoma.
A diagnostic test that creates high-quality digital images of the inner, back surface of your eye. Screens for many eye conditions like diabetes-related retinopathy, glaucoma and macular degeneration.
A full blood count test looks at the number, types and sizes of different cells in your blood, including red blood cells, white blood cells and platelets.
PBF assesses haemoglobin levels and morphology, aiding in diagnosing diseases like leukemia and anaemia.
ESR measures the rate of red blood cell settling over one hour, indicating inflammation rather than a specific disease.
The test determines your blood group, where your blood sample is mixed with antibodies against type A and B blood.
Vitamin B12 is crucial for cell metabolism, nerve health and preventing macrocytic anaemia.
Folic acid test measures red blood cell formation and the level of essential vitamins in your body.
Iron is a mineral essential for making red blood cells which carry oxygen from the lungs to the rest of your body. Measures iron in your blood.
Iron travels through blood attached to a protein called transferrin. Test measures your blood’s capacity to bind to iron and transport it throughout your body.
Ferritin level reflects the total storage of iron in the body.
Calculates the percentage of transferrin that is saturated with iron.
Thyroxine (FT4) and Triiodothyronine (FT3) are crucial thyroid hormones evaluated in blood tests to assess thyroid function, with imbalances indicating thyroid disorders.
ACTH regulates cortisol, a steroid hormone controlling blood pressure, blood sugar, immunity, and stress response. Aids in identifying hormone-related issues.
Test checks for levels of FSH which might diagnose infertility causes, when taken in conjunction with the other tests.
Test measures LH levels, crucial for reproductive functions in women and play an important role in fertility.
ICSH is important in your reproductive system and can impact testicular issues. Aids in diagnosis of reproductive and infertility issues in men.
Prolactin is crucial for bodily functions including blood vessel formation. Can diagnose prolactinoma and other sexual health issues.
Measures estradiol which facilitates the growth and maturation of female reproductive organs.
Test checks for levels of testosterone, the main sex hormone in men, as health problems might arise when it is too high or too low.
Dehydroepiandrosterone sulfate (DHEAS) supports reproductive functions across all sexes. May indicate different diseases, if taken in conjunction with other tests.
Checks for levels of cortisol, which influences stress response, inflammation reduction, blood sugar regulation, metabolism, and blood pressure control.
Test may diagnose bone disorders and other issues, with deficiency linked to various health problems like cardiovascular disease and weakened muscles.
High uric acid levels from protein breakdown can lead to kidney stones and gout. Test may diagnose hyperuricemia-related complications.
Test measures blood proteins linked to autoimmune diseases like rheumatoid arthritis.
Calcium levels are vital for nerve, muscle, and heart function, while phosphate regulates fluid levels and pH balance.
Antibodies defend against foreign invaders, but antinuclear antibodies target healthy cells, potentially signalling autoimmune disorders where the body attacks itself, posing serious health risks.
Sufficient glucose is necessary for normal body function. Screens for diabetes.
Haemoglobin, found in red blood cells, primarily exists as haemoglobin A, known as glycated haemoglobin. Measures glucose control over past 90 days and helps to screen for the risk of diabetes.
Hepatitis A virus induces liver inflammation. Tests detect early (IgM anti-HAV) and past (IgG anti-HAV) infections in blood.
Detecting HBsAg indicates Hepatitis B infection, while HBsAb signals complete recovery from Hepatitis B. Boosters are recommended post-vaccination if antibody levels decline to maintain protection.
Hepatitis C causes liver inflammation and damage. Tests diagnose and monitor the infection.
Healthy cholesterol levels are vital for well-being. Diet and genetic factors affect cholesterol levels, raising the risk of heart issues like stroke or heart attack.
Triglycerides store energy in the body, increasing with diets rich in starch, sugar, and oily foods, raising obesity and CHD risks.
HDL, the “Good Cholesterol,” transports cholesterol to the liver, protecting against heart disease, while LDL, the “Bad Cholesterol,” raises the risk by depositing cholesterol on vessel walls. Higher HDL and lower LDL levels typically mean lower heart disease risk.
C-reactive protein (CRP) increases due to inflammation, infection, heart issues, or trauma, contributing to atherosclerosis. Test detects significant inflammation and assesses cardiovascular risk.
Test measures troponin levels in blood, indicating heart muscle damage when elevated. It aids in diagnosing heart attacks and detecting muscle damage promptly.
Creatine kinase (CK) is a key muscle enzyme, crucial for energy production in skeletal and heart muscles. Elevated CK levels signal muscle damage from heart attacks, injuries, or certain substances. The test diagnoses muscle damage-related conditions by measuring blood CK levels.
Creatine kinase-MB (CK-MB) found in heart muscle cells, is measured in the blood to detect heart damage. Elevated levels indicate heart muscle injury.
A blood test that measures the level of AFP (alpha-fetoprotein) in a sample of your blood. It is usually used to help diagnose certain types of cancer and to check how well treatment is working.
A CEA test is mostly used in people who have been diagnosed with cancers that often increase CEA levels, such as colon cancer.
A blood test to screen for prostate cancer in males.
A blood test to screen for ovarian cancer in females. Ovarian cancer encompasses diseases originating in the ovaries, fallopian tubes, or peritoneum.
Blood test to screen for pancreatic and biliary tract cancers, as well as colorectal, gastric, hepatocellular, esophageal, and ovarian cancer.
A blood test to screen for testicular cancer in men. Testicular cancer begins in the testicleslocated in the scrotum, which produces sperm and testosterone.
A blood test to screen for breast cancer. Breast cancer is a kind of cancer that begins as a growth of cells in the breast tissue.
A blood test to detect antibodies to the Epstein-Barr virus, to screen for Nasopharyngeal cancer, that occurs in the nasopharynx, located behind your nose and above the back of your throat.
