Preparing for a Mammogram

When scheduling your appointment, please inform our staff if you have breast implants or any breast symptoms. It’s advisable to avoid scheduling your mammogram during the week before your period for more comfort.

During the mammogram, you’ll be positioned for imaging, and your breast will be gently compressed between two plates to obtain clear images. This compression is brief but necessary for accurate results.

What happens during the Mammogram

Our specialised technologist will guide you through the process, ensuring your comfort and providing clear instructions for each step. The mammography machine emits a low dose of radiation, capturing high-resolution images of the breast tissue.

There’s no need for special preparation or anaesthesia for a mammogram.

Accessing your results

Your mammography images and report will be digitally accessible for review by our medical team. If you were referred, your healthcare provider will receive a comprehensive report promptly, enabling them to discuss the findings and recommendations with you during a follow-up appointment.

Printed copies of the images can be provided upon request (additional charges may apply).
