Step into Evangeline Leong’s modern four-storey terrace in Joo Chiat, and you’re met with the same vibrant energy that defines her. As CEO and founder of Kobe, an influencer marketing agency, Evangeline navigates the fast-paced world of digital marketing with a grounded, intentional approach to life.
Her home, featuring a dedicated gym and a kitchen where she crafts her own nutrient-dense foods, reflects this balance. Her three beloved dogs are never far, each cherished members of her dynamic household.
Warm, forthcoming, and refreshingly direct, Evangeline’s personal journey is as compelling as her professional one. She speaks with deep gratitude about her family, particularly her grandmothers, aged 97 and 92, and her parents, all embodying remarkable health and vitality. This foundation, built from humble beginnings, clearly fuels her drive and zest for living.
Evangeline isn’t about long workouts; she’s about smart, efficient moves. We joined her in her home gym to see how she gets maximum impact from minimal time.
Check out her go-to exercises, emphasising slow, controlled movements for muscle growth. Her goal: To build and retain muscle, not a “skinny legend” physique. For fitness newcomers, her advice is simple: “Just do something that will keep you liking it so you can keep doing it.” Start small, even five minutes, to build a sustainable habit. Crucially, she reminded us, “70-80% of transformation is diet.”
Evangeline’s disciplined approach extends to her kitchen, where she crafts her own nutrient-dense foods with scientific precision and fearless experimentation.
Our visit wouldn’t be complete without sampling Evangeline’s surprising culinary creations, including her famous chicken breast smoothie. A blend of chicken, blueberries, and protein powder, it’s an adventurous, yet surprisingly palatable, testament to her approach. This segment perfectly encapsulates her life’s philosophy: the power of “1% better” every single day. Whether a dietary swap or a new business venture, she advocates for consistent, incremental steps over overwhelming leaps.
Evangeline’s wellness journey is rooted in a profound personal transformation that began in 2021, reshaping her perspective on life’s purpose.
A period of feeling “lost” in 2021 led Evangeline to a pivotal realization after watching the movie Soul: “Purpose is not found, it’s created.” This insight sparked her journey to build a life of intention, guided by Robin Sharma’s The 5 AM Club and its four quadrants of holistic well-being. She openly shared her health struggles pre-2021 – smoking, breathlessness, eczema – highlighting the dramatic shift to her current disciplined regimen of resistance training, running, yoga, and “forest bathing.”
Her diet is strictly gluten-free, dairy-free, and egg-free, informed by personal sensitivity tests. Evangeline credits much of her drive to her long-lived grandmothers, particularly her 97-year-old Qigong master grandmother, who embodies a remarkable “zest for life” and the philosophy of eating “anything and everything.”
Her parting advice, inspired by a recent trip to Bhutan’s Tiger’s Nest, is to “Go try, go feel, go live in the moment.”
