Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)

Our advanced MRI technology ensures efficient scans, delivering high-quality imaging while prioritising patient comfort. For examining and diagnosing conditions including: 

• Tumors and cysts
• Abnormalities in the brain and spinal cord
• Joint injuries or anomalies
• Liver diseases
• Breast cancer screening for high-risk women
• Certain types of heart diseases
• Pelvic pain in women
• Uterine anomalies in women undergoing infertility evaluations
• Prostate conditions in men

Preparing for an MRI scan 

• When scheduling your appointment, kindly inform our staff if you have any metal implants or experience claustrophobia when scheduling your appointment.
• For MRI scans involving the abdomen, MRCP, liver, or gallbladder, a fasting period of 4 hours is necessary.
  

What happens during the scan

• You will be asked to change into a gown provided, and to remove any jewelry, hearing aids, or dentures.
• Some scans require an IV line for contrast enhancement, that may cause a mild warm sensation. Do inform our staff of any past reactions to x-ray contrast or if you have asthma.
• The MRI machine produces loud sounds during imaging. We provide hearing protection, an emergency buzzer, and headphones for communication and music for a better experience. You’ll also have access to a buzzer to communicate or stop the scan.
• Typically, MRI scans take between 15 minutes to an hour to complete, based on the specific area being scanned.

How do I access my results

Your images and report will be digitally accessible, and can be printed upon request (additional charges may apply). If you were referred, they’ll be sent by our radiologist to your doctor, who will then review and discuss the findings with you.
