What is the Tdap Vaccine used for?
The Tdap vaccine protects against tetanus (lockjaw, muscle contractions, interference with breathing & swallowing), diphtheria (breathing difficulties, swallowing problems, heart failure, paralysis), and pertussis (violent coughing, breathing difficulties, problems eating or drinking).
Who should receive the Tdap Vaccine?
Adolescents aged 10-11 and adults (18+ y.o.) every 10 years after primary series and additional doses following severe injuries to maintain protection, especially if a couple is expecting, or during pregnancy, as per Singapore’s National Adult/ Child Immunisation Schedule (NAIS & NCIS).
