Preparing for a CT scan
Before your appointment, please inform our staff if you have any allergies, especially to iodine or contrast dye. Also, let us know if you are pregnant or have any kidney issues. Certain CT scans may require the use of contrast material.
For CT scans involving the abdomen, pelvis, or certain types of CT angiography, a fasting period may be required. Our staff will guide you through any specific preparations.
What happens during the scan
You’ll be asked to change into a hospital gown and remove any metal objects, jewelry, or accessories. Some CT scans might involve the use of contrast dye, administered either orally or through an IV line.
If contrast dye is used, you might experience a warming sensation or a metallic taste. Please inform our staff if you’ve had any adverse reactions to contrast dye in the past.
During the scan, you’ll lie on a comfortable table that moves through the CT machine. It’s important to remain still during the imaging process, which typically lasts a few minutes per scan.
